2023 wedding season is going to be full of bright colors, big florals and unique, personal elements. I’ve rounded up some of my favorite trends I’m looking forward to photographing this year!
2023 Wedding Trends We Love
As we approach the 2023 wedding season, I wanted to take a moment to talk about all of my favorite wedding trends this year! Although I generally prefer a timeless, classic wedding aesthetic, there are some items this year that have caught my eye. And remember, just because something isn’t trendy doesn’t mean you shouldn’t include it on your wedding day! Your wedding is about your love, so do whatever makes you and your partner happiest.
Lots of Colors
In the late 2010’s we saw lots of muted color palettes in the wedding world – blush and sage were the most popular colors across the board. While I am undeniably a fan of these romantic, soft aesthetics, I’m so excited to see the bold statements that couples are making in 2023! This year we’re seeing so many pops of color in all different places. From florals to colorful glassware, and mix and match bridesmaid dresses, there is something so fun about this trend!
Pearls
Pearls are in, and not in the way you might expect. For 2023 we’re seeing lots of pearl accents like veils, shoes, and even gloves! While a classic pearl necklace will never go out of style, couples are reaching for pieces that make more of a statement. Pearls can give any wedding day a sense of glamour and romance, and I’m so glad to see them making a big comeback!
Sweeping Floral Arrangements
For floral arrangements in 2023, bigger is better. We’re seeing some over-the-top floral installations this year, from chuppahs and aisles to reception tables! While this trend is absolutely gorgeous, it can also be quite expensive. If you’re looking for a way to participate in this trend without breaking the bank, consider a single statement piece in front of your sweetheart table or bar! Your guests won’t forget an oversized flower installation any time soon.
Personalized Touches
In the past few years, we’ve seen a big push for “authentic” weddings. But what exactly does that mean? A lot of couples are choosing to ditch traditions for something that feels more “them”. And that can look like almost anything! From outfit choices to intimate ceremonies, to unique food and drink choices – anything that makes your wedding day feel more connected to you as a person is in. Your guests will remember your wedding day for being unique to you, and a real celebration of your love.
Sustainability
With climate change and sustainability being important topics in the world today, couples want to make their weddings more eco-friendly. From using locally-sourced flowers and food to choosing a LEED-certified venue, there are many creative ways to reduce their wedding day carbon footprint. There are even entire websites dedicated to helping you offset the carbon footprint from your big day!
Even wedding attire is going through a sustainable renaissance this year. Whether couples are renting their outfits or buying them secondhand, there are some fantastic options for eco-friendly couples that can make you look and feel incredible.
2023 is going to be an incredible year for wedding style and inspiration! Couples are having so much fun showing their personality in their wedding and it’s such a fun addition to an industry that can feel antiquated at times. Whether it’s making sure that your wedding is good to the earth, or adding personalized touches to your day, there are so many ways that couples are making their weddings stand out this year.
